Charley was bred in Germany and we brought him home at 4 months old when we were stationed at Ramstein. He loves water!! He enjoys playing fetch, frisbee, swimming, dock diving (though he's not very good), agility, snow, and just about anything active. We're still waiting for him to settle down! When he's stuck inside, he will dig up his dog beds or bark at inanimate objects trying to get someone to play with him. He knows how to help with many household chores to keep him busy. I think Charley has taught us more about living with and loving dogs than any book or person ever could. He is one of the best dogs I have ever seen work with puppies - he guides them, pulls the shy ones out of their shell, and interrupts rough play when necessary. When playing with a large group of Papillons, he makes himself very small and lets them climb on him, pull his ears, and grab his tail. Charley is almost completely deaf now, has facial nerve paralysis on the right, and is losing his night vision but it has not slowed him down. You may hear him referred to as: Poopy, Droopy, Charles the dog, Charley Brown, or the old man. No matter what we call him, he will always be our heart.
